Cancer Stem Cells
The basis of this topic is that a mutation has occurred within adult stem cells which causes cancer. One must keep in mind that not all cancers are stem cells, such that some tumors can have more than just one type of cancer. Moreover, there can be different types of cancer within a tumor and cancer stem cells may be a strong influence within it. Besides this fact, the cancer stem cell hypothesis has come to surface with taking into consideration that cancer cells and stem cells are similar; for example, they both can regenerate without limit. Except, cancer/cancer stem cell don’t stop while normal stem cells do when they are supposed to.
Stem cells within a specific organ are there to only help out that one organ byt replenishing damaged or aged cells. However, cancerous stem cells are said to be reproducing more cancerous cells. To understand this one method, one must understand FGF fibroblast growth factor.
The Fibroblast Growth Factor(FGF)/ FGF and Cancer
The fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF) is how cells communicate with each other. it is not known fully how exactly they work and what happens when miscommunications occur. Scientist have proposed that miscommunication triggers inactive stem cells in their particular organ and continues to miscommunicate. And because they interact with each other, so many cancer cells are born. To cure cancer, scientist must find how to make these cells inactive. But this research is done based on prostate cancer and prostrate stem cells, further studies must be done for this to be able to deem true for more cancers.
